The Homeless Agency Board

The Homeless Agency operates under the direction of a Board, consisting of representatives of voluntary and statutory services involved in the delivery of services to people who are homeless in the area. The primary role of the Board is to ensure the implementation A key to the door 2007-2010.

The Board liaises with the Cross Departmental Team on Homelessness through the Director of the Homeless Agency, maintaining informal channels of communication as well as formal reporting. Members of the Board are at senior management levels in their organisations. Voluntary sector representatives will be selected by the voluntary organisations network in the delivery of services to people who are homeless in Dublin, whilst statutory sector representatives will be nominated by their agencies.

Role of the Board

  • Ensure the implementation of A key to the door 2007-2010
  • Sets the strategic policy framework and ensures that the activities of the Agency are in keeping with relevant policy frames and best practice in terms of accountability and management
  • Ensure the development of appropriate policy responses in respect of policy development and Homeless Agency partnership level, which work to support the Vision contained within A key to the door
  • Provide strategic direction in relation to the financial resourcing of Homeless Services by the relevant statutory agencies in keeping with the Vision of A key to the door, relevant Government/National Policy Frameworks
  • Propose the plan and budget to the Cross Departmental Team through the Homeless Agency on behalf and in close collaboration with the relevant funding authorities.
  • Receive and/or seek submissions from the Consultative Forum
  • Receive and actively support the development of Local Homeless Forums.
