Professional Learning and Development in the Homeless Services Sector

Following extensive consultation with the homeless services sector five Accredited Homeless Agency Partnership/Dublin City University Professional Development Training Modules have been developed to support homeless and housing service workers who are active in the following roles:

  • Key workers (3 Modules)
  • Managers, with supervisory responsibility for key workers. (1 Module)
  • Case managers (1 Module)

The key aim of these modules is to develop current professional responses into a Pathway to home model of homeless and housing provision. The modules have been designed to facilitate professionals in developing key competencies, and incorporate key learning derived from the sectoral skills audit, the accreditation survey, outcomes from Care and Case Management Training Module, review of the existing Learning and Performance Programme, and the Evaluation of the Holistic Needs Assessment.

The modules will be accredited through Dublin City University with 10 credits at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications.

Key workers, managers and case managers seeking to participate in these professional training modules must be nominated by their organisational manager and are required to ensure that the on line nomination form has been completed by their manager as only applications supported by the nomination form will be considered.

All credits awarded for the modules are contingent on students’ successful completion of all aspects of the modules. This includes active attendance and completion of module assignments.
Note: As all module assessments, resources and communication will be provided via a web platform (Moodle) students are required to have proficiency in the use of and access to a computer and the internet.
