Core Actions
There are 10 core actions outlined in the A key to the door, these are the most important actions that need to be completed in order to meet the realisation of the Vision. They include;
- Identify people and households at risk of homelessness and intervene appropriately with a coordinated multiagency approach.
- Ensure access to mainstream health services and other services for people and households at risk of homelessness.
- Implement an information and awareness strategy.
- Implement Care and Case Management and the Holistic Needs Assessment across homeless services.
- Continue localising mainstream and specialist homeless services.
- Increase Service User Participation.
- Ensure local authorities and housing associations provide social rented housing.
- Identify and advocate for the removal of barriers that prevent access to private rented accommodation.
- Maximise hosuing provision for people and households through the Rental Accommodation Scheme.
- Evaluate and review existing models of long-term hosuing supports for people who have been homeless and seek appropriate revenue funding streams for the implementation of best practice in this area.
