Strengthening Families Programme

02/07/2010

All agencies or individuals who are involved in working with families, teens or parents on any level in the region are welcome to attend the Strengthening Families Programme on Tuesday 6th July in the Tivoli Training Centre, 24 Tivoli Terrace South, Dun Laoghaire.

The Strengthening Families programme has been successfully rolled out in Dublin and a number of other counties in 2009/2010.  A huge number of interagency links have been built up at both steering committee and facilitation level and a lot of learning and experience has been garnered nationally. Agencies involved to date include the Drugs Task Force, Young Persons Probation, Adult Probation, Springboard, HSE, E-Plus, Family Support Workers, ISPCC, YAP, Extern and a number of other Community and Voluntary organisations.

It is hoped that the learning in other Dublin programmes might transfer over to this programme through linkages in Steering Committees and personnel, with the overall objective of having a co-ordinated approach to the Strengthening Families programme in the region going forward.

The Strengthening Families programme and topics covered can also be used on a practical basis as casework with families and may be suitable as a programme to fulfill the strategies of many community based & similar organizations.

The programme also has the added benefit of bringing many agencies together to respond on an interagency basis and in turn benefit the community/region as a whole.
