Hostel and Temporary Accommodation
The vision of the future is one where no-one needs to be homeless because Government has accepted full responsibility for preventing homelessness; there is a range of safe, decent and affordable housing options available; an adequate quantity and quality of immediate accommodation for those who need it; everyone has equal access to services to meet their needs; and there is seamless co-ordination between the various support agencies
The role of temporary accommodation services is to provide safe, appropriate and decent temporary accommodation that meets the needs of people who are homeless for shelter and support and links to follow-on accommodation options.
Those providing temporary accommodation for people who are homeless should aim to achieve the following best practice quality standards:
- Induction of new residents
- Support and advice
- Specialist help
- Health and safety
